Improving WoW Arenas Rating and Getting Gladiator Gear Easier Said Than Done

The primary purpose of this site is to offer a way for WoW players to obtain gladiator gear from WoW arenas more quickly. This generally is easier said than done, especially as a new player trying to break through the ranks. The reason it is now so difficult to improve team rating as a new player is because there are so many players who have already obtained a ton of PvP gear through seasons 1 and 2. What this means is that a fresh player will be at a tremendous disadvantage, facing many characters that already have many pieces of gladiator gear. While skill is a factor with WoW arenas, your gear can make a significant difference. A character in blue gear is very unlikely to be able to beat a character in full gladiator gear. The largest differences you will see between geared characters is resilience rating, crit rating, and hit points. A fully geared gladiator will crit you more often, you will crit them less often, AND they have more hit points. In many cases, you might as well be fighting 2 vs 1, the difference is that substantial.

If you are just starting WoW arenas now, getting a 1500+ rating for your team will be a significant accomplishment because everyone you face will outgear you. You are also fighting an uphill battle. A 2v2 team with a "par" 1500 rating will only gets 261 points each week. A heavily geared 2v2 team with 2500+ rating will be getting over 1000 points each week. This means that the 2500 team will not only outgear you now, but they will get better gear at a rate 4x faster than is possible for your lowly 1500 team. It is virtually impossible to level the playing field. The cheapest season 2 gladiator item is 1000 points, while the most expensive 2hd weapons are nearly 4000 points.

If you are unfortunate enough to be one of the undergeared players, your best bet to become more competitive quickly is to play alot of PvP battlegrounds and obtain armor/items from there. While these items are not as good as the gladiator items, you can obtain them much more quickly than the gladiator items. An average player will probably be able to get at least 1 or 2 PvP items per week by playing battlegrounds (BGs) moderately. Typically the best honor is obtained by doing quick Alterac Valley matches, even if you don't win all the time. Getting PvP/BG gear will improve your resilience, crit rating, HPs, and all other important stats that you will need for arenas. While getting the BG gear, you might as well do some arenas as well, you will probably get your first arena piece after a full month of playing BGs. If you want some help to get BG gear more quickly, PGMx can help with their PvP services.

Take Advantage of the WoW Arenas Flawed Rating/Rewards System
A significant flaw in the WoW arenas system is that when you play against other teams, the only thing that is considered to determine the amount of points you win or lose is the rating of each team. The characters and the gear used by each team is not a factor, only your rating is a factor. This means that you could be facing characters that have a really well ranked (2000+) 5v5 team, but a crappy 2v2 team (1500+). As a result, they will be fighting your 2v2 team in full gladiator gear and if you win or lose, your rating will be affected by 15 points.

The good news is that you can use the flawed rating system to your advantage. The most important things to note to help you to take advantage of the arena rating/rewards system are the following:

1. You only need to do 10 matches per week in order to get credit/points for your team that week.
2. You only get credit for one team (the best) each week. 2v2 teams earn 76% of the points of a 5v5 team with the same rating. 3v3 teams earn 88% of the points of a 5v5 team with the same raing. This means that if you have an 1800+ rated 5v5 team, that you are receiving no benefit from a 2v2 or 3v3 team that is rated 1800 or less.
3. Each team can have 2x the required players on the team roster. A 2v2 team can have 4 players, 3v3 can have 6, 5v5 can have 10.
4. Each character only needs to play 30% of the total matches in order to get credit. This means that if your team plays 10 matches, each character only has to actually play 3 matches in order to get credit.

As the system is currently, it is extremely easy to take advantage of. If you have a high ranked team, it is an opportunity to make some very easy gold and/or cash. If you are looking for some fast arena points, you should easily be able to find some high ranked teams that would be willing to help you get points 4x faster than you would be able to "the hard way" working your way up from the bottom - in exchange for some gold or cash.

The arena system can be taken advantage of very easily, just by doing the following:

1. Team A (5v5) has a great rating, 2500+
2. Team A invites 5 poorly geared players to their team (the B team), and lets them play just 3 matches (30%) - chances are, every single match will be a loss for the B team.
3. Team A will take over, and do 7 matches, to reach the 10 match quota for the week. Chances are, they will probably win most of the matches, and the rating will stay high.
4. After the weekly reset, all 10 players from team A and team B will get full points for the week.
5. Repeat every week.
6. Another alternative is to bring a team rating up very quickly, and sell the entire team charter. The person who buys the team charter will be starting with a very high rating, and they will only have to complete 10 matches every week to get the points. Even if the buyer loses every single match, the team rating will only decrease a small amount each week and will result in many more arena points each week than would have been possible working from the bottom with a low rating.
